Not as predicted: house prices rise in July

Despite recent speculation that house prices are set for another fall, today's report from the Halifax reveals that prices in July were 0.6 per cent higher than in June.
But at 4.9 per cent this year-on-year increase is below June's 6.3 per cent and May's 6.9 per cent.
The Halifax findings are in line with the latest FindaProperty.com House Prices & Affordability Index.

House price news: properties flood onto the market

Property prices slipped by 0.6 per cent in June, according to the latest Halifax House Price Index and follows a half per cent decline in May and 0.1 per cent fall in April.
Annually, house prices to grow by 6.3 per cent and the average property value in the UK now stands at £166,203.
According to the Halifax report, the rate of house price growth is being slowed down by a flood of homes coming on to the market as many people finally feel confident enough to try and move house.

House price news: will it be a double dip?

House prices in the UK inched up by 0.1 per cent in June to an average of £170,111, according to the latest report from the Nationwide.
In contrast, the annual rate of growth slowed for the second consecutive month, from 9.8 per cent in May to 8.7 per cent.
