Despite recent speculation that house prices are set for another fall, today's report from the Halifax reveals that prices in July were 0.6 per cent higher than in June. But at 4.9 per cent this year-on-year increase is below June's 6.3 per cent and May's 6.9 per cent. Property prices slipped by 0.6 per cent in June, according to the latest Halifax House Price Index and follows a half per cent decline in May and 0.1 per cent fall in April.
